Out Of The Frying Pan, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)
Their bicycle going backwards
Their peddles in reverse
“A separation from God”
A deviation from the perverse
Trying to avoid a nasty pratfall
That makes not a good look at all
They water down the fiery pit
And claim it doesn’t exist at all
That the punishment of this God
Isn’t a pyre in which you are thrown
They skip over the God’s revenge
In the bible that can be clearly shown
Mathew 13:50
Describes a furnace of fire
If you don’t want to hang out with him
You will burn every minute, every hour
Mark 9:48
If you end up at hell’s gate
Fire will be your fate
Satan your only mate
Revelation 20:14
Is your second death
Inhaling searing heat
With your eternal breath
Revelation 20:15
If your name’s not in the book of life
You are thrown into the lake of fire
In agony beyond obscene
This is the selective orchard
Trying to avoid cherry mines
They don’t like the skeptic
Pointing out this bully isn’t kind.
(end)
Every so often I will run into a theist, not a Jew, I know they don’t believe in a eternal fire hell. But mainly Christians who try to avoid the fact that others of different sects do believe in an eternal hell and burning forever, by saying it isn’t a eternal burning, but a mere separation from God. It is hard for me to buy that reading the verses above in the poem.
The “hell” as that book of mythology depicts is a real place of eternal burning. Mathew 13:50. Mark 9:48, Revelation 20:14. Eternal torture isn’t justice, it is revenge.
