Rigor, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37)

This chill,
This season
Is the ache
Of my bones
Of frosted
Windows
Garden widowed
Trills far off
Blooms of yet
Pollen and nectar
Await the buzz
I do not
Wander out
Winter’s grip
Makes a recluse
Of me
(end)

I am a homebody anyway, but my least favorite season is winter.

  1. Great poem, Brian. I particularly like the lines –

    ‘Garden widowed
    Trills far off
    Blooms of yet
    Pollen and nectar
    Await the buzz.’

I feel much the same as you about the winter. I’d rather stay indoors in the warm (when I can afford the heating) than go out into the bitter cold of the winter. It’s not too cold over here today, about 11C, but tonight is going to be -2C, so a bit chillier. I look forward to bedtime when I snuggle underneath my duvet and stay warm.
