Never Was, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter)

The fear
Of opening eyes
The moment
Motionless
Bodies entwined
Blood pumps
Chests beat
Neither
Wants to leave
Alarm clock sounds
It was only
A dream

Empty
Next to you
Jumbled
Satin sheets
The woman
That never was
At the bar
You did meet
Taking no one slow

You were
Really alone
In your empty home
Illusions made in slumber
You wanted to be with her

Dissolved at dawn
The startled sound
Brought you around
Out of sleep you bound

She, you never found.
(end)
