Look Squirrel! By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @brianrrs37 on Twitter)
If someone berates you
Or bullies you
Because you goof, and giggle
If someone
Teases you,
In the mean manor
Point behind them
And shout, “Look Squirrel!”
If someone hates you
And pushes you around
If you feel alone
No friends to be found
If you feel like an oddball
Like you don’t fit in
If they call you names
That is certainly when
You point your finger
In the opposite direction
You shout these words
To distract their attention
“Look Squirrel!”
Bullies make me hurl
They have no clue
How they hurt you
But it’s till up to you
As to what you do
You don’t need them
Not one bit
Walk away
Yet if you can’t do it
If they have you cornered
If you feel overpowered
Shout these words
Louder and louder
I’LL BE MYSELF
EVERY DAY, EVERY HOUR
There is no intellect
In their actions
They’re insecure
Bullies need minions
If you want to sing
Way off key
If you have pimples
That everyone sees
If your cloths don’t match
If your house is small
If the porch needs painting
If you’re short not tall
Don’t you worry
One bit at all
Squirrels love nuts
Bullies always fall.

I really like this poem, Brian. It’s a good response to bullies. Whether I’d ever have the courage to shout out loud, I’LL BE MYSELF EVERY DAY, EVERY HOUR, I don’t know. I might have to stick with Look Squirrel! Thanks for sharing.

The point really is more an internal boost to oneself. Sometimes you have to duck, stay silent to survive. The point is for the reader to know the bully is always full of shit, regardless of what they may say or do to you. If fleeing or being quiet prevents you harm, that doesn’t make you weak, it makes you smart.

Why the hell am I only seeing your comment in my side bar pop up and not on the page itself? Are you seeing your comment on my page under this poem?

My original comment to this piece is still showing as awaiting moderation for some reason. I think, when that happens, you have to approve the comment, or sometimes, a comment will end up in Spam. I’m not really sure why else your sidebar. It’s a strange one. Have you contacted the Happiness Engineers, which is what the Support Team call themselves? You might have to wait a while for a reply, but they’re usually accommodating. To do this, assuming you’re using a laptop and not a phone (as that would display differently), if you go to the top left of your screen in WP, you will see the W (for WP) sign with a circle around it. Click on that, which should bring up a ‘My Home’ page. If you scroll right down to the bottom of the page, you will see an option to ‘Contact Support’. That’s the best way I can describe it. If you’re using a phone, the solution might be completely different, so I hope this information will help you a bit. I wish you good luck with it.

Can someone please tell me why I am NOT seeing comments to my poems under the poem itself like I do when I go to other’s pages? I am only seeing them in a pop up side bar that goes away when I am done with it.

I have commented on this issue above.

I know you did, that is not the problem. I am only seeing this in pop up side bar, not on the actual page itself. Is it showing up on the page on your end?

Yes, it’s showing up on the actual page at my end. It does seem very strange that it’s not working like that for you. I’d still try the support team. If you can screenshot what you see, they often request this. Don’t know if this helps anymore really. I don’t know what else to suggest.

Meh, all I have is a text chat pay deal, and I am not a good translator in text. I really need a physical person standing next to me. I guess I will just have to deal with it. But it is good to know you are seeing your posts on my page. That means at least it is working for the readers end.
