Conceit Of The Gods, By Brian37 (AKA Brian37 on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter)
In the throngs of conformity
They prattle incessantly
About their necessity
For your cause of existence
It is their insistence
Mandates your compliance
Or bolts from the sky
Will strike and you’ll die
Not that it ends there
In a pit of fire is where
They claim you will be
If you don’t bow to thee
Oh how droll these threats
Fall on ears of intellect
Dust they should collect
Stop pestering me
I know your motive
Is intimidation
Then a dozen roses
Followed by
A hollow apology
My brain you’ll eat
Giving it a bully’s
Eulogy
You want me
To be that calf
Weak and scared
And trusting
Looking for a herdsman
But I know that butcher
Smiles clanks
The dinner bell
I see his bulls and bovine
And sows, the chickens
Run to to the troughs
Ready to eat from fantasy
But they are unaware
The slaughter to come
But they had no chance
They were sold the baby bottle
At birth, before they could think
With the critical skills of adults
They cannot win on debate
With such well armored mates
They briefly conquer
And fill the pews
But even the holy man
Death befalls too
The Gods will feel
The same thing I did
Before I was born
The same thing after I die.
Nothing.

No Escape, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter)
If age were to be conquered
An unemployed reaper
Surly would be
Deprived of it’s grim bounty
Unfortunately
Such conquest
Is not possible
So as long as
The passenger jet
Is in flight
Take the turbulence
With the window seat
For it is
The only ride
We get.

Little Blue Bird, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrs37 on Twitter)
Little blue bird, you are a turd
You know this stunt is absurd
You have billions
Or haven’t you heard
Just like your rocket
You cant fucking hack it
Blow up your own app
Why did you buy it?
Fired brilliant people
Down to a skeleton crew
Your thumb up your ass
You don’t know what to do
It was on the DOW, but somehow
You managed to screw
All those investors
And your customer’s too
When is enough, enough
For you,
The billions you make
Not enough for you.
We are your lab rats
I guess you think that
Reward all your ass kissing
Sycophants
Can’t make enough money
Selling add space
Crappy check mark

Destroy The Binary, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter)
Nuance
Is not binary
Either/or
Is not a library
Such narrow mind
Is contrary
Arbitrary
And can only carry
The infection
Of ignorance
Boxes contain
The virus of hate
Seething rampage
They crash the gate
Propaganda
Is their diet
False martyrs
They play
I don’t buy it
The fool’s library
Is that of one book
The fool’s leaders
Don’t want you to look
The fool’s gold
Is the pyrite sold
The fool’s story
Is one so old
Hatred told
Is musty mold
It is the fire
Deliberately set
It is the bully
That feels no guilt
It is the bigotry
Apathy built
It is the patchwork
Of evil’s quilt
Chambers
That echo
Are a sycophant’s bliss
Cobra’s venom
The deadly kiss
Get out, get out
Of the hazy mist
Dirty drudge
Away from slugs

Roses Spite, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter)
It’s no delight,
In dead of night
To be alone,
By a silent phone
What was once then
Has met an end
A thorn that pricks
Has made me sick
Dashing hopes
My mind plays tricks
Knots have bound me
No love has found me
No love beside me
Half bed empty
Left and lonely
Call me, call me
No one can hear me
Photograph faded
I’ve paid dearly
Surely, surely
A cure to be found
But not as long
As the rose is around.

Inevitable, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter)
Oh Maya
Such delicate prose
As strong as titanium
You could fill the Palladium
Stanzas your medium
What stubborn avoidance
You state in defiance
“Refusal” to let your encore
Be your last breath
I would differ as to say
Another meeting of lips
When you speak of love
In some future not configured
It is inevitable
In spite of want
So deep no depth
Is to be found
That the heart
Always stops

This is an ode response poem to Maya Angelou’s poem “Refusal”https://allpoetry.com/Refusal <—– By Maya Angelou.
It is that old desire to want that one last kiss, that one last hug. Unfortunately none of us live forever and such poems to me read bittersweet, even outside of romance when we are talking about family. -
Indelible, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter)
Carved into marble, words need not be
Pyramids, gold death masks, in a tomb
Taj Mahal, obelisks, mausoleum, make room
The mark of the poets are always in bloom
They speak of the sun, daisies and dewdrops
They speak of the rainbows when the storm stops
They speak of the lovers, embraced, unrequited
They speak of their pets when they get excited
They are your stitches, they are your scars
They are the singers in smoky piano bars
They are the telescope focused on Mars
They are the comets and shooting stars
They are your dreams of the sandy beach
They are your passed loved ones, out of reach
They are your nightmares, darkness besieged
They are laughter when you are pleased
Carved into marble, they need not be
Indelible ink for all to read
The poet’s words centuries last
Hometown library the dye is cast
Home on a bookshelf in a study
Pick up and ponder when you’re ready
Professor assigns you in collage class
Or back yard pool, a time to pass
Night time sheets, tv set off
Covers burry you in winter’s draft
Furry companions sleep on your lap
The adventure set, the poem your map
Carved into marble, words need not be
Indelible ink, for all to read
Hunger for passion, making a plea
Oceans of depth , a violent sea
Indelible ink, for all to read
The cut causes pain, blood to bleed
Clues fingerprints, at the crime scene
Shamrocks and clovers show off the green
Carved into marble, words need not be
To query our motive is no mystery
Life experience leads to creativity
Love is the paper and pen is the seed.

Former line in the second stanza read
“They speak of the pet when it gets excited”
I changed it to
“They speak of their pets when they get excited”
