Body Snatchers

Body Snatchers, By Brian37(Now Jackie Leigh) (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @brianrrs37 on Twitter)

The sanctuaries
That often come to mind
Schools, Hospitals, houses of worship
Are being violated by the most evil kind

You don’t want them in your drink
And their veins are very cold
Crushing the due process
Of the young and old

In 1921
The madman had begun
Destroying checks on power
The innocent went on the run

Guns of the government
Used to oppress their own
Losing their moral compass
Destruction is now home

He gives someone for you to hate
Vilification on his slate
You blindly take the bait
But soon you’ll meet your fate

He’ll snatch your body too
That’s what dictators do
He never cared about you
Or anything that is true

Brown are the leaves
Of democracy
Shirts are the mirror
We’ve seen in history

We’re in a time machine
Returning to the obscene
Lack of humanity
Lack of empathy

It will certainly lead
To barbaric atrocities
If warnings we don’t heed
Fascism will succeed

Let the bunker be
The coward’s way out
From every single rooftop
Everyone must loudly shout

We don’t want that here
We know the road that’s tread
The gravestones of the innocent
The masses will be dead

In a prison all will live
Even those who helped him rise
Not even you will be free
Your body snatched alive.
(end)

Drawing parallels here.
