Egg Prices, By Brian37(transitioning, my new name is Jackie ) but for poetry purposes changing all my poetry is to cumbersome. (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB and @brianrrs37 on Twitter.)
This road has been tread on before
The scapegoating precedes the gore
We’re living this script once more
The charismatic madman, says he has a plan
Promises of a fictional utopia only leads to dystopia
It’s all the fault of outsiders, blame those different “others”
They don’t look like you, they don’t worship the same God
There skin is a different tone, the vilification drone
He’s laying down fascism’s sod, blind to this dangerous fraud
Tariffs are passed down to you, he lies and says it isn’t true
He’s pulling a scam, not new, past history has examples who
Want to have absolute power over you
Sell them streets of gold, sell them they are chosen
The deer in the headlights have frozen
Blindly baaing like sheep, soon they will be fleeced
Trapped in the slaughter house, yet you are unaware
You gleefully cheer him on while history screams BEWARE
Malicious prayers that wish the migrants despair
The vilification is relentless, this bully truly gutless
Medals of a classmate’s jacket, he could never hack it
He wants us to sit up at attention at his authoritarian convention
This road has been tread on before
The scapegoating precedes the gore
We’re living this script once more
The cattle cars have become passenger jets
Deporting kids with cancer and no regrets
This isn’t going to be the worst it gets
Your silence now is complicity
You must take a stand, end his tyranny
Preserve democracy throughout the land
Pluralism and due process cannot be destroyed
This challenge we cannot avoid
Least empathy and compassion die in darkness
Clackety clack, history is on track
To be that morbid pustule crack
Oozing of hate and fear
All because the lemmings think
That egg prices will go down
Pennywise the orange clown
But the truth has always been
The cult members want to win
By beating others down
This road has been tread on before
Scapegoating precedes the gore
We’re living this script once more
Let this not come to be
It doesn’t have to be
A repeating history
