Barrette, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)

I saw it in the cosmetic store
A woven bead, tendril gold
Blossoms of diamond cut glass

A $10 dollar trinket
To me, added some class
Of feminine wiles

It gave me smiles
To see the shimmer
To see the sparkle

My manufactured mane
Previously styled and packaged
Seemed particularly plain

Some elegance I sought to gain
Where to place the barrette
Not big enough to be a coronet

Maybe in the back, I could bunch
A little swath to fancy a pony tail
I cant tell, I am new to this trail

This barrette has some weight
I hope it won’t be my fate
For it to fall off, while out

Out shopping, it’s eye popping
Glimmering and bright
Beverly Hills at a bargain price

I will give you due time
Red carpet look
Oh mademoiselle

You took my glance
Will elegance advance
From my thrifty purchase?
