I am sure you remember
That famous painting
Of George Washington
Crossing the Delaware

Yet few are aware
Of a Prussian man
Who took a stand
And had a plan

To help the founders
Win the Revolutionary War
Bet you’ve never heard
The name Baron Von Steuben before

Franklin recommended
This gay military man
To General George
Who put Steuben in charge

Of helping win the war
There would be more
Who would have a dream
And one would stand

And support Martin Luther King
Though this gay black man’s name
To most does not strike a ring
Bayard Rustin always stood by him

And organized that famous speech
On the steps of the Lincoln Memorial
In the face of the adversarial
It could have meant his burial

This woman was way beyond aerial
Willing to take an orbit in space
She was a cosmic ace
Sally Ride took off into space

And when you are on your cell
Tweeting how LGBTQ will burn in hell
I have one more thing to tell
Lynn Conway is responsible

For that device, so please
Please, please take my advice
Stop being a bigoted asshole
You don’t look all that nice.
