Oblivious, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet On FB/META and @brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)
Sometimes I wish I could be
As oblivious as the bluebird in the tree
No knowledge of human troubles
Nothing to bother me
No hate filled bigotry
No rejection of minorities
No abuse of authority
No corruption of charity
Sometimes I wish I could be
As oblivious as the whale shark in the sea
No knowledge of human troubles
Nothing to bother me
No worries of nuclear war
No mass shootings at the grocery store
No threats to democracy
No climate emergency
More often I wonder why
Others don’t open their eyes
And listen to our planet’s cries
Before our species dies.
