Let me start off, let me make a case

Unzips the DNA two separate halves
Now in play, the leading strand, and lagging strand

Now the builder, polymerase, is in command
It builds in opposite directions, for each band
3 prime to 5 prime, inverted, opposite spanned

Here comes primase primer just in time
To show the builder where to start
Oh what an art, but how to mend gaps in part

Of the lagging strand, Elmer’s glue, I’m a fan
Ligase patches the Okazaki fragments scanned
DNA replication ends up in the new strand
