Out Of Many One

Out Of Many One, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)

Out of many, one, unless you are one
Of us, at best, I’ll let you live as a guest
But equal you will never be

Out of many, one, I am never done
Making arguments that I am the one
Who is chosen, you’ll always be frozen

In second class status, if I am being generous
Yet that is erroneous, I am full of hate
I want to eradicate, anyone not like me

Out of many, one, by point of gun
I’ll make you run, diversity I shun
My God said this land belongs to me

By Providence decree, I look up to see
The voice in my head, wants you dead
Fear my wrath and live in dread

Out of many, one, must not arise
I will not tolerate or compromise
I am deaf and I hear no cries

Cries lost in fog, the vicious dog
Breaks my flesh, kills your kin
With rabid bite, say goodnight

Compassion dies, cruelty wins
The seeds of hate are where it begins
If you drink my poison all life ends

We must resist, and always fight
The venom voices hijack the night
Out of many, one, defend the light

Out of many, one, that person unknown
For the unfounded hate that you have shown
Shedding ignorance shows that you’ve grown

Out of many one, this one planet we share
We must take heed and always beware
Of those who want to divide us

You are not different than us
We are all the same, food, shelter
Especially love, never live in shame

It is easy to point the finger
To cast aspersions and blame
That leads us all to maim

And kill the nasty shrill
Thinking we can bludgeon
Those who don’t agree

Don’t let this be our history
Don’t let this be our final page
Don’t let our species die in rage

From the festering self inflicted
Wound of hate, because that hate
Is the mirror we look into

Out of many, one, it’s overdue
To return to that spirit of pluralism
And end that pustular schism.
