Humility, By Brianrrs37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)
I am humble enough
To accept I am
As finite as
Any other life
As finite as
The weed
In my yard
As finite as
The squirrel
In the tree
As finite as
The fish
In the sea
As finite as
The bumble bee
It humbles me
To know
Even when I go
The atoms in me
Won’t cease to be
I recycle them
Constantly
The death of a star
Exploded violently
That lead to
The atoms in me
I am a living fractal
However so temporary
Even the pterodactyl
Met it’s meteor demise
Ever lasting life is a lie
It would be better to try
To accept the world
As it is, that is
If we open our eyes
It should not
Surprise
If one is to find
We can still be kind
Have peace of mind
In this finite time
There is no fame
Etched in stone
That does not erode
Eventually
We can potentially
Extend our ride
Minus arrogant pride
Though the ride
Will always end
Lets not pretend
Lets not dwell
On a fictional hell
On the final toll
Of the last bell
Let our fears quell
Lets focus on
On the now
On the show
Already in progress
(end)
