When called to task, they always ask
Why are you being so mean?
For the mere act of questioning

It is not militant to ask for evidence
If you are going to claim divine providence
I can see that you have all the confidence

I’ve seen your script before, in countless flavors
It does you no favors, to contently endeavor
Thinking your logic is perfectly clever

I will not burn down your church
I will not demand your arrest
Don’t call me a militant atheist

For putting your claims to task
I am no fan of Stalin or Hitler
No fan of Castro or Mao

Don’t you accuse me of hating you
For merely asking you how
You came to your conclusion

I seek to reduce confusion
There is no fear to be had
If you can get it in a lab

And get independent peer review
This isn’t at all anything new
