The Plaid Platypus

The Plaid Platypus , By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)

The plaid platypus took the invisible bus
It road it on the rings of Saturn to Pluto with no fuss
The plaid platypus is a topic hard for me to discuss

People don’t understand it when I try to argue thus
I try to tell them that Serena Williams beat the Cubs
In the NHL Stanly cup, but then I get this bizarre look

“What the hell is up?”. They look puzzled, concerned
Confused, like I drank the Kool Aid in the cup
Unphased by their skepticism I will never stop

Nonsense, gibberish, it’s fictional cotton candy
Now you ask me why I wrote this poem
About this amazing creature I find very dandy

That is how I feel when you come up to me
And try to sell me something unscientific
Something unrealistic, something fantastic

Full of magic, full of superstition, full of unicorns
Magic babies born, dragons, talking snakes
Men out of dirt, women out of ribs, this logic I can’t take

Otherwise my plaid platypus my imagination did so make
Is as real as your God, don’t call it a fraud, don’t mock me
For it is as real as it can be.
