This Time Of Year

This Time Of Year, By Brianrrs37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)

They gather near, for stuffing
Cranberry and a bird
On the TV football is heard

Years ago I sat with you
At your assisted living apartment
And this is what we would do

Prepared at the deli, a turkey meal for two
No fuss, just us, mom and son
Macy’s on the TV we had fun

My cats independent
They don’t care
They can’t understand

That your no longer here
I sit alone, now that you’re gone
The TV, it doesn’t mater what is on

You’d get me to put up
Your table top tree
Reindeer letter holder

It brought you glee
Your absence silence
Is painfully

Reminding me
Fourth Thursdays
In November

Indifferent time
Cruel clock
Vile thief.
(end)

While you are enjoying your holidays be thankful, because there are people who are alone or are lonely. And just as important you never know what time you really have because life is fragile.

I am ok, and I am not a holiday fan, as far as prep and being fancy. I enjoyed Thanksgiving because my mom did, and I enjoyed spending time with her. It hits me sometimes on special dates. I wish we could have that deli prepared turkey meal together again and watch the Washington/ Dallas game. But she passed away in 2017.
