Some Like It Hot

Some Like It Hot, By Brianrrs37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)

Foreigner, Poindexter, Power Machine
Frigid temperatures were all they could glean
Even the our sun by comparison
As hot as it is can’t get the job done

Near the speed of light
The atoms smash
Like the black and white movie
When the locomotives crash

In The Large Hadron Collider
Scientists created the hottest temperature
9.9 trillion degrees Fahrenheit
The experiment did capture with delight

The fragmented parts
That turned into plasma
“I’m shivering cold”
Cries out the magma
(end)

Another silly poem about real scientific facts. Scientist smashed atoms at what is called the Large Hadron Collider at the French/Swiss boarder. It is a giant ring designed to speed to gold atoms at each other near the speed of light. When they smashed into each other, the collision and friction created heat 9.9 trillion degrees Fahrenheit. Nearly 400,000 time hotter that the center core of our sun.

Don’t freak out, the collision is so quantumly small there is no way that heat would destroy the equipment used to do the experiment or life for that matter.

Notes on the first stanza

The Foreigner had a song called “Hot Blooded”
Buster Poindexter had a song called, “Hot, Hot, Hot”
Power Station with Robert Palmer had a song “Some Like It Hot”

My silly metaphor for saying “WHAT THE F, WOW!”

Smashing atoms gives scientists and the world a view of the beginnings of the universe just fractions of a second after the Big Bang.
