Meowio Furmieux, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrs37 on Twitter/X)
Maybe she thinks she is a Gretzky
My little furball crazy Kelly
She has no Grace but quite silly
With her plush fish toy she plays hockey
She slaps it around like a puck
The vinyl flooring it won’t get stuck
Like an air hockey table it is slick
Then under the utility shelf it will stick
I could call her for icing,
She finds this toy so enticing
She needs to work on her shuffling
You’ll never see her passing
Then she charges the shelf one on one
No goalie in sight she’s having fun
On her way to a hat trick
The Stanly Cup she’s won
(end)
My cat Kelly likes to slap around a tiny plush fish toy, and on vinyl flooring it slides very easily, but I have this very low lying plastic utility shelfing and the bottom shelf has a small gap under it and she inevitably slaps it under the bottom shelf where it gets stuck. She does this on purpose because she knows I have magic powers(I use a stick because the shelves have slats in them, I can simply push the stick out). Then no more than 2 to 5 minutes later, the toy is stuck again.
The name of the poem is a spoof of the real Hall Of Fame NHL hockey Player Mario Lemieux, thus “Meowio Furmieux”.
