Lordanus Brunus Nolanus, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)
Burnt at the stake for making the mistake
Of telling the truth about the sparkling night
Lights being suns and not just stars
But these are the scars, the fatalities of progress
Dare they suggest that the church was wrong
For their truth telling their pyre was strong
Wood stacked around him and tied to a post
There ignorance lead them torture the host
Denying the reality of our cosmos
There can be only one sun, and son of God
Those observers of science shall burn in flames
Blasphemy the zealots violently shames
Blistering skin, the monsters became
Oppressors breath death burning his his name
Opiate of madness the scientist gets blame
Campo de Flori the execution square
The fervent faithful murdered with glee
Screams of terror in agony
This multiple solar complexity
To the magots, it could not be
For one book is all they see.
