Help Me, By Brian37 (AKA Brian James Rational Poet on FB/META and @Brianrrs37 on Twitter/X)

Felis silvestris, the pair of them
Darting about like Vincent Price
Jeff Goldblum, chasing a fly in the room

Zoom zoom, across the floor
The darting target went from the door
To the window, to find an escape

Caught between the blinds and the pane
Their heads back and forth
Like watching a tennis match

My feline pair wanted to dispatch
No longer interested in my fish on a string
They got bored found a new plaything

“Help me, help me” in a squeaky voice
The tiny critter had no choice
My two cats were on the chase

Trailing the fly all over the place.
(end)

My cats were playing with me and their favorite toy my plush fish toy on the end of a string attached to a small plastic stick. Suddenly a fly went by and that was it, they were done with my toy. Talk about squirls and shiny objects.

FYI Felis Silvestris Catus is the species scientific classification for the domestic house cat.
